Three renowned institutions were combined into one in 2005. Technikon Witwatersrand and Vista University, Rand Afrikaans University, and Technikon Witwatersrand were combined to create the University of Johannesburg (or UJ as it is affectionately called). This was much more than a simple name-change. This was the beginning of a vision of what a University should look like. We did more than just adopt the name of the region we live in.
